The purpose of the Visible Men Student Art Contest is to engage youth in the process of identifying positive black male role models in the Metro Washington DC community.

The process of finding a Visible Man and then creating a written document, or a piece of visual or digital art to celebrate that Visible Man inherently connects youth to role models in the African American community who often go unrecognized. The project is meant to showcase the diverse professions, lifestyles and accomplishments of successful black men and inspire black boys to “dream with variety”.
